I love drawing and making visual stories sometimes combining colour to make
pictures that on the surface are direct but contain layers of meaning that are
playful and profound.
I work in different mediums and choose the one most suitable to express the
ideas in the picture I am working on.
My paintings and drawings tend to be figurative and contain sentiments about
contemporary living. I extract images and ideas from a variety of sources
including the Southwest landscape, figures, music, dance, comics, poetry and
fairy stories.
I am fascinated by the way people stand and gather together to celebrate
whether on the beach, at a festival, some kind of meeting or sport event
creating patterns and energy as they move around. These spontaneous
occasions influence the content of my paintings and drawings.
I studied at Sunderland and the Royal College of Art. I have had many solo
shows in the Southwest.
