Hailing from Glasgow, Jan studied at the Leith School of Art in  Edinburgh. She has been painting for over 25 years and is now  based on the West Coast of Scotland. Jan is an accomplished seascape artist and her latest work is  inspired by her love of sailing. Her painting captures the tremendous  movement, thrills and glorious colours of sailing and the sea. She  makes extensive use of impasto techniques - laying the paint on  very thickly - the paint itself, in its reflection of light and the speed  and strength of its application, echos the subject matter. Jan concentrates her work within a few select galleries around the  UK and has a number of paintings in private collections in America,  Canada, Luxembourg, Australia, and Ireland and has worked to  commission both privately and for organisations.
